Abraham Jimenez has over ten years of teaching experience, first as a math tutor then as an instructor for the University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College. Currently, Mr. Jimenez serves as the department chair for the Department of College Preparatory Math. Mr. Jimenez received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from The University of Texas at Brownsville. He has led efforts to redesign our accelerated and corequisite courses. Janet Magturo Sandoval is a mathematics instructor in the Division of College Preparatory Studies. She joined TSC in Fall 2013. She teaches Introductory Algebra and Intermediate Algebra. Prior to coming to TSC, she was a Developmental Mathematics Instructor at South Texas College. She also taught at Harlingen CISD, Weslaco ISD, and Progreso ISD as a secondary mathematics teacher. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Central Philippine University and her Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Southeastern Philippines. She resides with her husband in the mid-Rio Grande Valley. In her free time, she gardens and reads. Andrew Sebok teaches mathematics for the Division of College Preparatory Studies. He comes to TSC with over six years of experience in teaching and tutoring at community colleges in Central Illinois. He holds an Associate’s degree and a Bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University as well as a teaching license for secondary classrooms. He teaches Introductory Algebra and Intermediate Algebra courses as well as the Math Fundamentals courses. He is thrilled to be part of the TSC team, to work with the students and staff to promote the college’s mission to provide quality higher education for all. Brittney Gillespie-Porter earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Millikin University, Master of Arts in Mathematics from Eastern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in Education Administration and Foundations with concentrations in Assessment and Educational Policy Analysis/Legal Research from Illinois State University. Prior to moving to the Rio Grande Valley, she taught in Illinois and has worked in higher education for more than ten years. Erick A. Gonzalez is a mathematics instructor in the Division of College Preparatory Studies. He joined TSC Fall of 2017. He started as a Developmental Mathematics instructor for the University of Texas at Brownsvile and Texas Southmost College. As a recipient of the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship, he worked in Secondary Education for San Benito CISD. He comes to TSC with five years of teaching experience in secondary and higher education. He has also taught for the University of Texas at Kingsville. He has taught Geometry, College Algebra, Trigonometry and Statistics and is excited to join the Department of CPS Mathematics at TSC. Jeisel Quintanilla is a mathematics instructor in the Division of College Preparatory Studies. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a Teacher Certification in grades 4-8 and her Master’s degree in Mathematics from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She worked at UTRGV as a mathematics tutor and graduate teacher assistant where she discovered her passion for working with students in higher education. She is excited to be part of the TSC family and ready to serve students in order to help them succeed. Aleksandra Shchelkunova joined TSC in Spring 2016, and she has more than ten years of tutoring, teaching, and research experience. She teaches Introductory Algebra, Intermediate, and College Algebra. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Moscow Academy of Fine Chemical Technology in Russia and earned her Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from The University of Texas at Brownsville. |
