- Continuing ESOL students must successfully complete all four ESOL courses at the high- intermediate level (ESOL 0337, 0338, 0339, and 0346) to advance to the advanced ESOL level.
- New students are advised to take the TSI assessment.
- TSI assessment identifies students as college-ready or not college-ready.
- All students who are identified as not college-ready (developmental education) must meet with an advisor or ESOL instructor.
- If the student’s elementary, middle, and high school education was completed in the United States, continue with developmental education placement.
- If the student’s middle and high school education was completed in the United States, continue with developmental education placement.
- If only part of middle and/or high school education for the student was completed in the United States, refer the student to the testing center for appropriate ESOL placement test.
- Please note that if a student scores very low on TSI assessment but has completed all formal schooling in the United States, the student may have a learning disability.
- Once a student completes the ESOL placement test, use the following scores for placement:
RS= Reading Skills, LU= Language Use, SM= Sentence Skills
