TSC breaks record, fall 2016 enrollment hits 5,051 |
 Texas Southmost College broke a record for enrollment in fall 2016 when the college reached 5,051 students. The fall 2016 semester began on Aug. 29, 2016.Texas Southmost College (TSC) reached a milestone this fall by breaking the 5,000-student enrollment mark for the first time since TSC re-opened in fall 2013. TSC enrolled 5,051 students for the fall 2016 semester that began Aug. 29. The record enrollment for fall 2016 was a 25.3 percent aggregate increase over the previous fall. "This fall's enrollment increase tells the story of why a community college like TSC is so essential to our community," said TSC Interim President Mike Shannon. "Our community needs an affordable option to pursue a higher education with quality instruction, and that was reflected in our record enrollment this semester." TSC's on-campus enrollment reached 3,603 students this fall, a 13.8 percent increase over fall 2015. The college's dual and early college high school enrollment also saw an increase as it reached 1,448 students in fall 2016, a 67.8 percent increase over the previous fall. "This semester was by far our biggest enrollment increase since TSC re-opened in fall 2013," said TSC Interim Vice President of Student Services Alejandro Salinas. "Our students realize that the key to improving the quality of their lives is through higher education, and TSC is here to help our community achieve their education and realize their dreams."
