The TSC Scorpions co-ed flag football team won the Valley Bowl championship title on Oct. 14, 2017 at Edinburg.
The Texas Southmost College Scorpions co-ed flag football team ran over the competition on Oct. 14, 2017 at the UTRGV-Edinburg Wellness & Recreation Sports Complex to claim the 2017 Valley Bowl championship title. The Scorpions co-ed squad went 2-0 and outscored their opponents 89-6 en route to the title. TSC's co-ed's defeated Texas State Technical College 50-6 and shutout South Texas College 39-0. "It feels amazing getting that championship, especially because it was our first championship as a TSC team," TSC co-ed team captain Lia Rivera said. "We look forward to Valley Bowl every year, and this year's win was well deserved. It meant a lot to us because, as a team, we have been working really hard to start a club to hopefully travel to more tournaments. We want to show what TSC students have to offer in athletic competition." The students that participated on TSC's co-ed championship-winning team are: J.J Mercado, April Chapa, Alfredo De La Garza (QB), Sabrina Garcia (QB), Gisel Hinojosa, Hugo Salazar, Erika Mendiola, Basilio Guerrero, Aolani Alaniz, Michael Padilla, Victor Vilano, Victor Salgado, Michael Flores, Daniel Garcia and Lia Rivera.
