CARE Team

Research gathered from institutional tragedies strongly supports that educational institutions must address campus safety in a unified, planned, and proactive manner. The Texas Southmost College CARE Team addresses potential threats to the safety and security of the College community by enhancing communication, assessing circumstances, and initiating appropriate responses to specific behavioral problems.

Making a Referral to the CARE Team

Effective threat assessment & management is a collaborative effort. As a member of the College community, you are responsible for reporting individuals who are exhibiting behaviors that pose a threat to safety or that cause a significant disruption to the TSC community, even if you do not perceive the risk as immediately dangerous. You should report the following:

  • Self-injurious behavior.
  • Suicide ideation or attempt.
  • Danger or threat to others (violence, threats or implied threats of violence, or intimidation).
  • Possession of a weapon.
  • Erratic behavior that is disruptive to the normal proceedings of the College community.

In an emergency your first call should be to 911
