Murad Abusalim, Ph.D. worked for several years as professional architect in his home country, Palestine, before proceeding with his post-professional degrees in architecture. Most of his professional design experience in the United States and abroad has been in the areas of housing, mix-use urban projects, and cultural centers. In 2008, he joined the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College (UTB/TSC), to launch an Associate's degree in architecture to meet the educational need of this discipline in South Texas. He continues his service to TSC as an Instructor of Architecture, teaching such courses as Architectural Graphics II and Architectural Design II. Dr. Abusalim’s area of specialty is housing and community development although he has an interest in analyzing the reciprocal relationship between sustainability and societal and environmental contexts of a given region.
Christopher Collins, AIA has taught Architectural History, Architectural Graphics, Architectural Computer Graphics, Architectural Technology, Basic CAD, and Residential Drafting. Having worked at a full service architecture firm since 2000, Christopher Collins has over twelve years of working experience with projects ranging from elementary schools to athletic facilities, and is involved with all phases of a project from programming through construction. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and is currently the Regional Director for the Texas Society of Architects of the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Mr. Collins is dedicated to construction research and design development, applying the latest design technologies and trends, and is also in charge of the company’s in-house production operations.
