Student Accessibility

At Texas Southmost College the Office of Counseling and Student Accessibility Resources is committed to providing equal educational opportunities to students with disabilities. Our office works with each student individually to arrange for accommodations, technology training, or other needs. TSC offers a variety of services and resources to help students and in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, TSC faculty and staff work closely with students who have documented disabilities to ensure equal access to the College's programs, activities, and services.

Texas Southmost College works with students with disabilities to deliver services such as:

  • Extra time on tests / quizzes
  • Distraction reduced testing / quizzing
  • Oral testing and other reasonable accommodations based upon receiving valid and professional documentations
  • Sign language interpreters for deaf and hard of hearing

Texas Southmost College follows Section 504 of the National Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which deals with nondiscrimination of disabled students in post-secondary settings and the Americans with Disability Act. TSC makes reasonable and appropriate accommodations to meet the individual educational needs of students with disabilities thereby allowing them equal access to post-secondary education.
